What actually is the power supply of the thrusting force in firearms,?

All firearms work on the generation of gases at high pressure in a sealed system with one exit. Be it cordite, black powder, smokeless powder, or anything else, they create gases at high pressure. The rest of the system is sealed, other than the muzzle of the barrel. The only thing blocking that exit is the bullet. The high pressure pushes the bullet out of the way to release the high pressure gases from the sealed system with only one exit.
